What is the best robot vacuum for pet hair for the money?Having a pet requires you, as the owner, to care for him—taking trips to the veterinarian, grooming, feeding, and exercising him. You may not immediately think of the extra cleaning you will have to perform in order to keep your house clean and beautiful.

One of the biggest hassles that owners need to think of when having a pet is the hair that will be shed. If this problem is untended too, your house will be left be dirty. An even larger effect on neglecting to clean the pet hair is the presence of allergens and pet dander. This can be harmful for everyone—not just those with allergies.

The easiest solution is to recruit the help of a robotic vacuum. This way you can stay on top of the hair, dirt, and dander without interrupting your daily routine.

The product that I most recommend, based on both reviews and characteristics of the product, is the Roomba 890. While this is not the newest version of the iRobot Roomba vacuum products, it has the best value.

It has been on the market for a few years and is hundreds of dollars cheaper than the Roomba 980, while being comparable in features. This, in my opinion, makes the Roomba 890 the best robotic vacuum for pet hair for the money.

Quality and price are important factors in deciding on the right robot vacuum to maintain the pet hair in your home. Although quality of the cleaner and price is important, it is also necessary to consider what you are getting for the price of the vacuum. To find more information about what makes a robot vacuum cleaner the best for pet hair cleaning and usability, read these next to sections. Benefits of Buying a Robots Vacuum for Pet Hair

Not only does pet hair present health worries, but carpets without pet hair make your house look much cleaner. Pet hair also makes your carpets smell if it is not cleaned. Carpets covered in pet hair may be one of the most unattractive sights and smells when having guests visit your home. Efficiently cleaning the pet hair off of all of your floors can be an easy fix if you invest in the right equipment.

You could try vacuuming, but that could require hours of working yourself—you may not have hours to put forth into vacuuming. You’ll also be stuck vacuuming almost constantly because pets drop hair all day long. If you have multiple dogs this hair pile up may not be easy to stay on top of. Hair is also found beneath furniture and in hard-to reach places on your flooring. A typical vacuum cleaner cannot get under all furniture. Even vacuum attachments are hard to use under some furniture because you may not be able to see beneath your couch or low-sitting furniture.

Having a robotic vacuum that is small and can do the job itself is much more convenient, eliminating the time and stress that you have to put into cleaning. Plus, there is no cord that you constantly have to keep unplugging and plugging in again when you move to a different room of your home. You also don’t have to worry about hair accumulation while away from home for short periods. A vacuum that does the maintenance itself is a huge help in removing the dirt and foul smells that pet hair is sure to cause.

What Makes a Good Robot Vacuum for Pet Hair?

There are a few factors to take in consideration when deciding on the perfect robot vacuum to clean your floors.

While some features are chosen based on personal preference, there are other features that are important in getting what you are paying for. You don’t want to have to worry about your robot vacuum malfunctioning or breaking after only a few uses. You also don’t want to have to purchase one that will not do the best possible job.

You want to find a robot vacuum that has a long enough run time and sufficient features to make running the vacuum easy for you. The points of the robot vacuum are to completely clean and make cleaning less strenuous on you. You don’t want to make cleaning more stressful by buying a low-quality item.

It is also necessary to make sure the vacuum you are purchasing has sufficient capacity to contain pet hair, which accumulates quickly. The rollers and brushes should withstand collection of hair as well. It should contain air filtration to ensure it’s not blowing the dander from the accumulated hair back into the air.

Other features of importance are sensors to detect walls and drop offs as well as the ability to clean the types of floors contained in your home. Not all robotic vacuums are means for carpet or hardwood and laminate flooring.

For truly maintenance free vacuuming you also want the vacuum to have a way to return to a charging station. Finally, you want to purchase a vacuum that has a sufficient number of cleaning sessions per week.

Out of all the different systems listed in this article, the iRobot Roomba 890 Vacuum Cleaner is of the highest recommendation, especially those who are interested in having the highest-tech products. It’s a great bang for the buck, especially for a home with pets.

The 890 uses tangle-free rollers and has a larger waste bin than its predecessors. It includes HEPA air filtration to keep pet dander and dust in the unit and out of the air.

The vacuum is easy to disassemble for maintenance. Like it or not any vacuum is going to need to be cleaned out if used in a home full of hair. This is just the reality of vacuum technology today. At least with the 890 maintenance sessions will be farther and fewer between.

Using the Roomba 890 is extremely simple. It can be controlled via remote as well as with buttons on the unit that very simple to operate. Pros

  • Usable on carpet ,wood, concrete, vinyl, and tile
  • Scheduling features
  • One of the best-selling Roomba vacuums of all time
  • Automatically docks and recharges sensors to navigate and adapt to home

Cons

  • Older model
  • Does not include camera to navigate as does the newest robotic vacuums
  • Hair can wrap around rollers

Despite being an older model and a cheaper product when compared to the other Roomba models, the Roomba 650 is more comparable than you may think. The value for this robotic vacuum is unbeatable for the price that you would pay. It is about $500 less than the newer Roomba models and at least $400 cheaper than most other newer models. It can clean with similar efficiency.

Surprisingly, it is of slightly less weight than newer robotic vacuums and the same height, making it just as capable to get under low furniture. It offers 7 cleaning sessions a week which is also the same number that most other models offer.

The software system of the Roomba 650 is one of its strongest attributes. While it doesn’t have the iAdapt®0 Navigation technology that the Roomba 980 has, it chooses from many behaviors 60 times a second. The vacuum is able to clean more of each room. It is even able to clean it better because it goes over the same section several times, often a necessity when extracting pet hair from carpets.

Unfortunately, It does use brush rollers. So why am I recommending it for a home with pets? It’s super cheap. If your pets have short hair you don’t have much to worry about. If they have longer hair you may spend some time cleaning the rollers periodically. For some, that may be a worthy trade off for saving $400.

This is a great robot vacuum for someone with a budget but still wanting the quality of the new vacuums seen on the market today.

Pros

  • Virtually maintenance free
  • Unlimited cleaning sessions per week
  • Over the double the run time compared to other models
  • HEPA filtration eliminates clogging issues
  • Fairly priced
  • App to control vacuum

Cons

  • Over 6 pounds heavier than other models

Although this vacuum is heavier than most others, its effectiveness matches that of the best cleaners. The value for this vacuum is great because it features many of the high-tech features that the most expensive products on the market have. The price is nearly half of many of these other premium models.

Its suction rate is competitive and may even succeed that of the Roomba 980, one of the highest-rated (and expensive) vacuums on the market. The height of the Xiaomi Mi Vacuum Cleaner adjusts to get a tighter seal with the floor.

Ultimately, the price and quality prove to be one of the best values because of its navigation. Although it does not contain a camera, its ultrasonic radar sensors along with wall sensors, collision sensors, and cliff sensors keep it from colliding with anything. Drop sensors will keep you from worrying that it will fall off of any floors from your home if there is a drop or stairs.

Alternative I Can’t Recommend

Samsung POWERbot R9040 Wi-Fi Robot Vacuum—Available on Amazon, this product has unbeatable suction capabilities, but it is overly priced. There are robot vacuums with comparable features that cost up to hundreds of dollars less. Also, this vacuum is only compatible with some Samsung Galaxy S and Note Series technologies.

Summary

In order to keep a clean and healthy home, it is necessary to be sure you are eliminating as much pet hair as possible. The most effective method to do so is by using a robotic vacuum, and there are a few good options as to what product to choose.

The best product on the market right now, after taking into consideration quality and price, is the iRobot Roomba 890 Vacuum Cleaner. It has many high-tech features and cleans efficiently without breaking the bank.
